The contrast between the showcased companies at the recent overlapping TechCrunch50 and CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment events in San Francisco couldn't have been greater in terms of size and innovativeness. The TechCrunch50 Conference showcased little-known startups with unconventional ideas. The CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment show, meanwhile, featured the kind of giant carriers and vendors whose businesses startups seek to disrupt. But one short row of booths at CTIA's exhibition slightly narrowed the gap. At least one of the companies in the row, which CTIA grandly dubbed a "Developers Pavilion," was pushing the boundaries of mobile mashups incorporating voice, without losing sleep over it at all.
